BLADENBORO – Sophomores Josie McLean and Ava Giles combined for 5 goals Tuesday night to lead Purnell Swett to a 6-1 non-conference girls’ soccer victory over West Bladen in the season-opener for both teams.

McLean posted a ‘Hat Trick’ of 3 goals to lead the Lady Rams. Giles tallied 2 goals, and teammate Anileigh Locklear scored the other goal for Swett.

Senior Kaden Thurman knocked in the West Bladen goal in the 1st half. Purnell Swett led 3-1 at halftime. Junior Briana Carranza Toledo recorded 13 saves in goal for the Lady Knights.

Thurman and sophomore Ashley Sanchez-Resendiz led the Lady Knight defense with 7 steals each. Sophomore Haliegh Seabolt came up with 6 steals, and sophomore Yuridia Santana-Dominguez and junior Shamaria Jackson finished with 4 steals each.
