TABOR CITY – Freshman Zach Meares pitched a no-hitter and struck out 7 batters to lead East Bladen to an 11-0 jayvee baseball victory over South Columbus Wednesday in Three Rivers Conference action.

Meares walked two batters and only one other Stallion hitter reached base on an error. The victory raised East Bladen’s record to 8-1 and avenged the Eagles only loss of the season to the Stallions back in early March.

Freshman Jay McKoy led off the game with a single and circled the bases on a stolen base and two passed balls. Sophmore Jake Evans drew a walk and advanced on two passed balls before Meares knocked him in with a single for a 2-0 Eagle lead.

Jay McKoy drew a one-out walk in the second, stole second and darted to third on a passed ball. Evans lifted a sacrifice fly to center field that scored McKoy.

Freshman Brady Hollingsworth belted a lead-off single in the third inning. Freshmen Freddie Wooten and Tyler Hill were both hit by pitches to load the bases. Freshman Drew Sholar cracked a single that scored Hollingsworth and Wooten.

Freshman Jacob Priest’s sacrifice fly plated Hill, and Jay McKoy belted a single that scored Sholar for a 7-0 East Bladen lead.

The Eagles tacked on four more runs in the seventh after two were out. Jay McKoy laced a single, Evans was hit by a pitch and Meares walked. Hollingsworth drove in McKoy and Evans with a single, and Wooten hammered a double that scored Meares and Hollingsworth.

Jay McKoy batted a perfect 4-4 with a run batted in and 3 runs scored. Hollingsworth finished 3-4 at the plate with 2 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Meares batted 2-4 with a double, an rbi and a run scored.
