ELIZABETHTOWN – Easton Bostic and Zach Sholar combined to pitch a 7-hitter Tuesday and led East Bladen to a 4-2 Waccamaw Conference jayvee baseball victory over West Columbus.

Coach James Ben Daly’s Eagles improved to 6-0-1 in conference play and 7-1-2 overall. East Bladen will visit West Columbus Thursday. The Vikings are 2-2 in Waccamaw play and 2-5 overall.

Bostic started and pitched 5 innings to pick up the win allowing 2 runs – 1 earned – on 6 hits and a walk while striking out 4. Sholar worked a scoreless inning of relief and allowed 1 hit to get the save.

Sholar and Isaiah Lee sandwiched walks around Colton Daly’s being hit by a pitch in the Eagle 1st inning. Tyler Eason lifted a sacrifice fly to leftfield that scored Sholar.

Rex Register lined a single to center field to start the Eagle 2nd inning. Register circled the bases on a trio of wild pitches. Daly hammered a double to right, and his courtesy runner, J. D. McArthur, raced home on a pair of wild pitches to push the East lead to 3-0.

Christian Norton reached base on an error, and Landen Batten singled in the Viking 4th inning. Brayden Nance yanked a single to left that scored Norton and trimmed the lead to 3-1.

Sholar drew a lead-off walk in the Eagle 4th inning, stole 2 bases and dashed home on Daly’s fielder’s choice to pad the East lead to 4-1.

Norton doubled and scored the final Viking run on an error in the 6th inning.

Eason tripled and drove in a run for East Bladen. Daly doubled and drove in a run. Register singled and scored a run. Sholar scored 2 runs, and McArthur scored a run.

Nance batted 3-for-3 with a run batted in to lead the West hitters. Norton doubled and scored twice. Batten, Santonio Vereen and Nance shared the pitching duties for the Vikings.
