LELAND –North Brunswick capitalized on 4 errors and 8 walks to defeat West Bladen 7-3 Wednesday in non-conference jayvee baseball action. The Scorpions only had 2 hits in the game and only 1 of their runs was earned.

West Bladen, now 1-4-1, will host Lumberton Thursday. North Brunswick, now 3-2, will travel to New Hanover Thursday night.

Grayson Skipper doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly in the Scorpion 1st inning. Three walks, 2 errors and Cameron Lewis’ run-scoring single produced 4 more runs in the North 2nd and pushed the lead to 5-0.

Chase Bryan drew a lead-off walk in the West 3rd inning. Jonah Bryan lined a single to centerfield, and both advanced on Tyler Lewis’ fielder’s choice. Ryan Dove reached on an error that scored Chase Bryan, and an errant attempt to pick off Dove scored Jonah Bryan and trimmed the margin to 5-2.

Brady Marlowe walked in the Knight 4th inning, and his courtesy runner, Aidan Trinidad, stole 2nd base. Chase Bryan knocked in Trinidad with a single to left that closed the gap to 5-3.

Two walks, 2 errors and a sacrifice fly produced 2 more Scorpion runs in the home half of the 4th.

Jonah Bryan batted 2-for-3 and scored a run to lead the Knight hitters. Tyler Lewis, Weston Hilburn and Chase Bryan added 1 hit each. Chase Bryan had a run batted in, and Trinidad and Chase Bryan scored runs.

Tyler Lewis started on the bump and pitched 2.2 innings for West allowing 5 runs – 1 earned – on 2 hits and 4 walks while striking out 2. Marlowe worked 2.1 hitless innings of relief and allowed 2 unearned runs on 4 walks while striking out 5.

Skipper doubled, scored twice and drove in a run to lead North at the plate. Cameron Lewis singled and drove in 3 runs. Tyler Sellers pitched 4 innings to pick up the win allowing 3 runs – 1 earned – on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 9. Matthew Wittofsky pitched 2 scoreless, hitless innings of relief and struck out 1.
