Caleb Sholar pitched a 2-hitter and struck out ten batters to lead West Bladen to an 8-1 Four County Conference jayvee baseball victory over visiting Union Thursday.

Sholar walked two batters, hit one and pitched 5 shutout innings before giving up a run in the sixth.

The Knights jumped in front 3-0 in the home half of the first inning. Shawn Oxendine drew a lead-off walk, and Ian Sykes knocked him in with a single. Catcher Jalen Drew drove in Sykes with a single, and sophmore Jonathan Robinson smacked a single that plated Drew.

Cameron Peterson belted a single to start the Knight second inning. Robinson ripped a 2-out single to drive in Peterson and push the lead to 4-0.

Sholar began the West Bladen third inning with a single, and Peterson smacked a single to drive in Sholar and stretch the lead to 5-0.

Robinson laced a single to start the Knight fourth inning and galloped home when Trey Storms hammered a triple. Justin Nickle walloped a triple that scored Storms, and Sholar slammed a single that drove in Nickle and upped the count to 8-0.

Robinson batted 3-4 with 2 runs batted in and a run scored. Sholar finished 2-3 at the plate with an rbi and a run scored. Peterson was also 2-3 with an rbi and a run scored.

Storms and Nickle blasted rbi triples and scored a run each. Sykes and Drew ripped rbi singles, and Sykes, Drew and Oxendine scored runs.

The Knight jayvees improve to 8-6 on the season and will host rival East Bladen today (Friday) at 4 p.m.
