BLADENBORO –Davonte Marshburn threw in 6 of his game-high 15 points in the final quarter as East Columbus edged West Bladen 28-27 in non-conference jayvee boys’ basketball action Tuesday.
Timothy Smith rang up 7 of his 11 points for the Gators in the opening period as the visitors grabbed an 11-5 lead. Center Tyleak Ballard answered with a trio of baskets for the Knights in the 2nd quarter, and Cade Allen bombed in a 3-pointer as West Bladen went up 18-14 at halftime.
Connor Monroe drained a 3-point shot for the Knights in the 3rd quarter, but the Gators rallied to within 21-20. Allen buried a 3-point shot and another basket in the final period to finish with a team-high 8 points for West. Ballard followed with 7 points, and Monroe finished with 6 points.
The Knights will travel to South Columbus Wednesday.
