Midway raced to a 27-11 first quarter lead and went on to defeat East Bladen 65-45 Thursday night in Four County Conference jayvee boys basketball action at East.

Guard Messiah Leach bombed in a pair of 3-point shots and scored all 7 of his points for East in the first period. Greyson Heustess and Darrell Banks added baskets for the Eagles in the quarter.

Sadique Ingram and Banks drained two 3-point baskets each in the second period. Ingram dropped in another basket, but the Eagles still trailed 39-25 at halftime.

The Eagles managed only baskets by Anthony Wooten and Xavier Wooten in the third quarter as Midway grew the lead to 54-29.

Heustess nailed a pair of 3-point shots in the final period. Xavier Wooten sank 5 of 6 free throws and scored 7 of his 9 points in the fourth quarter.

Ingram topped the Eagle scoring with 11 points. Heustess and Banks finished with 8 points each.

The Eagles will travel to Clinton Tuesday for a 4:30 game.
