WHITEVILLE – East Bladen’s jayvees claimed their 4th consecutive volleyball victory Tuesday with a 2-0 sweep of Whiteville by set scores of 25-8 and 25-18 in Waccamaw Conference action.

Sophomore Aubrie Nixon ignited the Lady Eagle offense in the opening set with a 5-point service run for a 7-3 lead. Freshman Taylor Dowless and sophomore Mileigh Martin reeled off a pair of 3-point service runs as the East lead grew to 16-6.

Freshman Kaylie Atkins claimed 4 straight service points to stretch the Lady Eagle lead to 21-7, before freshman Marlee Potter served out the set with 3 consecutive service points.

Atkins won a pair of service points early in Set 2, and Potter added another service point, but the teams traded points until Atkins broke loose with a 5-point service run that vaulted East on top 15-9.

A trio of Nixon service points padded the margin to 20-12. Freshman Tatum Allen chipped in with a service point, before sophomore Jenna Brice served out the match.

Atkins topped the Lady Eagle servers with 11 service points. Nixon totaled 8 service points. Potter finished with 4 service points, and Dowless and Martin followed with 3 service points each. Allen and Brice tallied 1 service point each.

Coach Jessica Eason’s Lady Eagles improved to 2-1 in the Waccamaw and 7-5 overall. East Bladen will entertain South Columbus Wednesday.
