Sophomore Josue Guvera and freshman Greyson Heustess combined for 3 goals and 2 assists to lead East Bladen to a 5-1 Four County Conference men’s soccer victory over visiting West Bladen Thursday night.

Heustess finished with 2 goals for the Eagles, while Guvera dished out 2 assists and scored a goal.

The Knights struck first as a shot deflected off the leg of a West Bladen player and went into the goal with 17:22 left in the first half.

East Bladen pulled even seven minutes later as sophomore Brooks McGill fed the ball to senior Alex Felder who banged a shot off the Knight goalie. Heustess pounced on the rebound and knocked it in for the tying goal.

In the first minute of the second half, Heustess pushed the ball ahead to sophomore Kevin Nunoz who lofted a long pass to sophomore Caleb Hatchell who re-directed it out of the air and into the goal with his foot.

At the 30:34 mark, Hatchell sent a ball to Guvera who fired a cross that McGill received and slid under the keeper for a 3-1 lead.

Neither team scored again until only 6 minutes remained. Guvera delivered a cross to the middle of the box, and Heustess converted it into his second goal of the game.

Two minutes later, Felder played the ball to Guvera who beat a defender and blasted a shot from 20 yards out that found the back corner of the goal.

Freshman goalie Spencer Scott was credited with 5 saves for the Eagles, and Josh McKoy had one save.

Anthony Sebastian kept the Knights close for most of the night with 12 saves.

The Eagles improved to 5-9 overall with the win. West Bladen dropped to 4-10-2 overall.
