BLADENBORO – Ashton Davis and Chase Bryan combined to pitch a 2-hitter and strike out 18 batters Tuesday as they led Bladenboro to a 2-1 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory over Nakina.

Davis pitched 6.1 innings allowing a run on 2 hits, a walk and a hit batter while striking out 16 batters to earn the victory. After Davis reached his pitch-count limit, Bryan came on to strike out 2 batters and record the save in the 7th inning.

Simmons tripled to left field in the 1st inning to drive in Smith who had walked with the Nakina run.

The Bulldogs answered in the home 1st as Davis drew a 2-out walk and raced home with the tying run when Devan Stanley walloped a double to left-center field.

Bryan was hit by a pitch with 2 out in the Bladenboro 3rd inning, and Davis blasted a triple to left-center field to drive in Bryan for a 2-1 lead.

Davis finished with the triple, a run scored and an RBI to lead the Bulldog hitters. Stanley had the RBI double, and Luke Bryant and Gauge King added a single each for the winners. Bryan scored a run.

Coach Tim Benton’s Bulldogs improved to 3-0 and will host Elizabethtown Wednesday.
