BLADENBORO – Sincere McKinley and Gaston Russ sank 4 free throws each in the final quarter as Bladenboro rallied from a 21-17 deficit to defeat Williams Township 28-25 Thursday night in their Waccamaw Middle School Conference basketball opener.
McKinley kept the Bulldogs close dropping in a trio of baskets in the 3rd period then beginning the final quarter with a basket before sinking the 4 straight foul shots. Russ buried a 3-point shot in the 1st half then was a perfect 4-for-4 at the line in the 4th quarter.
Corben Chadwick tossed in a pair of 1st half baskets for the Bulldogs then netted a free throw in the final period to finish with 5 points. McKinley topped the Bulldog scoring with 14 points, and Russ followed with 7 points. Brooks Carroll pumped in a Bladenboro basket in the 2nd quarter.
Nathan E. popped in a game-high 14 points for Williams, and teammate Duncan W. added 8.
Bladenboro will visit Tar Heel Tuesday.
