ELIZABETHTOWN – Elizabethtown poured in 16 points in the final quarter to overcome a 7-point deficit and defeat Nakina 30-26 Thursday in the Waccamaw Middle School Conference opener for both teams.

Isaiah Lloyd fired in a 3-point shot, another basket and a free throw to spark the Cougar rally. Jayden Lewis and Tykee Hill tossed in 2 baskets each, and Jemel Carter added a basket during the 16-5 run.

Lloyd threw in baskets in the 1st and 3rd quarters and topped the Cougar scoring with 10 points. Damian Maynor drained a 3-point shot and a free throw, and Lloyd netted a basket as the Cougars whittled a 15-7 Mustang lead to 21-14 in the 3rd period.

Hill pumped in a basket in the 2nd quarter and followed Lloyd with 6 points for the winners. Carter bombed in a 3-point shot in the 2nd period and tallied 5 points. Maynor and Lewis chipped in with 4 points each.

C.J. Joseph led Nakina with 6 points, and I. Cardenas and J. Canady scored 5 points each.

Elizabethtown will host East Columbus Tuesday.
