EAST ARCADIA – Elizabethtown defeated East Arcadia 37-23 Thursday in Bladen Five Middle School Conference boys basketball action.

Emanuel Lewis tossed in a basket and 2 free throws to lead the Panthers to an 8-6 first quarter lead. Teammates Kenneth Armstrong and Quantico Fennell added a basket each in the period.

Guard Malcolm Bolden threw in a couple of baskets, and Jacob Nixon added a basket to keep the Cougars close at the quarter break.

Bolden and Ty Mathis sparked a 15-3 Cougar spurt with 2 baskets each in the second period. Ahmad Powell flipped in a basket and a free throw, and Chase Starkloff and Timothy McLean netted a basket each as the Cougars built a 21-11 halftime lead.

Armstrong banged in a second quarter basket, and Malaquie Lewis made a free throw for the Panthers. Emanuel Lewis canned a free throw for the only East Arcadia point in the third period.

McLean popped in a pair of baskets for Elizabethtown in the third quarter. Cameron White scored a basket, and Marvin McKiver cashed in a free throw as the lead grew to 28-12 at the quarter break.

Layne Ross connected for a basket and a free throw for the Cougars in the final quarter. Teammates Ryan Yandle, Tyveon Graham and Jackson Wright scored a basket each in the period.

Emanuel Lewis poured in four baskets and a free throw in the final quarter for the Panthers, and Armstrong powered in a basket.

Bolden topped the Elizabethtown scoring with 8 points, and McLean finished with 6 points.

Emanuel Lewis led all scorers with 14 points for East Arcadia. Armstrong tallied 6 points.

The Cougars remained atop the Bladen Five with a perfect 6-0 record.
