HALLSBORO – Malcolm Bolden fired in 17 points to lead Elizabethtown to a 38-31 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys basketball victory over Hallsboro Tuesday night.
C. J. Waddell keyed a 14-5 Tiger rally with a trio of baskets as Hallsboro built an 18-14 halftime lead. Dominic Collins drilled in a 3-point shot, and Bolden tossed in a basket to keep the Cougars close.
Bolden and Phillip McKiver sparked a 13-4 Cougar run with 2 baskets and a free throw each. Collins threw in a basket, and Zamar Lewis hit a free throw as Elizabethtown went up 27-22.
Two more baskets and a free throw by Bolden kept the Cougars on top. Collins and Peyton Tatum pumped in a basket each, and Cameron White sank 2 free throws.
McKiver and Collins finished with 7 points each for the winners, and White added 4 points.
Aaron Mitchell and Jayson Holmes scored 8 points each to lead the Tigers, and Waddell followed with 7 points each.
Coach Larry Williams’ Cougars improved to 9-1 on the season and will host Tar Heel Tuesday.
