TABOR CITY – Tabor City rallied from a 15-1 first quarter deficit and defeated Clarkton School of Discovery 52-47 in Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ basketball action Thursday night.
Dasheon Campbell blistered the nets for 11 of his game-high 28 points in the opening period to spark the Blue Devils to their early 15-1 lead. Campbell threw in 5 baskets and a foul shot in the quarter, and Jackson Smith and Khalil McKoy pumped in baskets.
Norris and Hutchinson who topped the Red Devil scoring with 13 points each keyed an 18-4 Red Devil surge in the 2nd quarter that knotted the score 19-19 at halftime.
Campbell popped in 2 baskets and a free throw in the 3rd quarter, and Keyshawn Kemp and Isaiah Robinson added buckets to keep the Blue Devils within 31-29 entering the final period.
Morgan scored 6 of his 12 points for Tabor City in the 4th quarter. Hardy tallied 5 of his 8 points, and Hutchinson rang up 5 more points to keep the Red Devils ahead.
Campbell lit up the scoreboard with 4 baskets and 2 free throws for the Blue Devils in the final period. Kyran McKoy bombed in a 3-point shot, and Smith and Robinson delivered baskets. Kemp followed Campbell on the CSD scoring list with 5 points, and Smith and Robinson netted 4 points each.
The Blue Devils are scheduled to host Nakina Tuesday night.
