TABOR CITY – Cabria Baldwin threw in a trio of baskets during a 6-0 3rd period run that carried Clarkton School of Discovery to a 16-14 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ basketball victory over Tabor City Thursday.
Baldwin led the Lady Blue Devil scoring with 11 points, and teammate Brenna Hester added 5 points. D. Johnson scored 6 points for Tabor City.
Hester tossed in a pair of baskets in the 2nd quarter, and Baldwin sank a free throw to edge the Lady Blue Devils ahead 7-6 at halftime. Baldwin’s 3 buckets after intermission opened up a 13-6 Clarkton lead.
Baldwin netted a basket in the final quarter, and Hester made a free throw to help Clarkton withstand an 8-point rally by the Lady Red Devils.
Coach Savannah Elkins’ CSD squad, now 1-0, are scheduled to host Nakina Tuesday at 4 p.m.
