NAKINA – Nakina edged Clarkton School of Discovery 2-1 in the penalty kick shootout Wednesday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys soccer action after the teams were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation.
Nakina scored a goal in the 6th minute of play. Garrett Dunham sent an assist to Jair McElveen who scored the tying goal for the Blue Devils late in the second half.
Matt Kemp fired in the first goal of the shootout, but Nakina answered with a goal on their first attempt. After 2 misses, the Mustangs found the back of the net with the winning kick on their 4th attempt. The Nakina goalie blocked 3 of the Blue Devils final 4 penalty kicks in the shootout.
The Blue Devils, now 2-1 on the season, will travel to Acme-Delco on Thursday.
