WHITEVILLE – Whiteville Central capitalized on a number of Clarkton School of Discovery mistakes and defeated the Blue Devils 38-14 in Waccamaw Middle School Conference football action Tuesday night.

The Hornets held a 16-8 lead in the final minutes of the first half, but a pair of Blue Devil fumbles resulted in a pair of Central touchdowns and a 32-8 halftime lead.

Clarkton consumed a good part of the 3rd period driving deep into Hornet territory, but a Blue Devils fumble was returned 98 yards for another touchdown.

Corey Wilder took a quick-pitch and raced 50 yards for Clarkton’s first touchdown then ran the 2-point conversion. Nayshawn Jones dashed 30 yards for another Blue Devil touchdown in the 3rd quarter.

The Blue Devils, now 2-1, will host South Columbus Tuesday night.
