WHITEVILLE – Natalee Sykes blistered the nets with 11 of her game-high 17 points in the 1st period as Bladenboro raced to a 13-2 lead en route to a 39-24 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ basketball victory Thursday over Williams Township.

Sykes fired in a 3-point goal and 4 other baskets during the early run, and teammate Zybriona Johnson hurled in the other Lady Bulldog basket. Addison Wilcox threw in a pair of baskets in the 2nd period for the winners, and Sykes, Kali Allen and Michaela Hester dropped in a basket each to keep the margin at 23-12 at halftime.

Sykes, Allen and Makenna Thurman pumped in baskets in the 3rd quarter to push the Bladenboro lead to 29-14. Allen popped in a pair of baskets in the final period, and Sykes, Wilcox and Hester tacked on a basket each.

Allen finished with 8 points for Bladenboro. Wilcox followed with 6 points, and Hester added 4. McKenzie Spivey bombed in a pair of 3-point shots in each half and led the Williams scoring with 16 points.

Coach Otis Evans’ Lady Bulldogs improved to 4-0 on the season and will host Nakina Tuesday in a battle of unbeaten teams.
