TAR HEEL – Khadijah Jones lit up the scoreboard with 16 points Tuesday to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 27-12 Bladen Five Middle School Conference girls basketball over Tar Heel.
Jones sank 3 free throws and 2 baskets in the opening quarter as the Lady Blue Devils jumped out to a 10-5 lead. Teammate Mariah Smith drained a 3-point shot in the period.
Shelby Pharr dropped in a basket and a free throw, and Le’nya Harrell tossed in a basket for the Lady Panther points.
Smith threw in 2 more baskets in the second quarter and totaled 7 points in the game. Shaunessy McMillian scored a basket to keep Tar Heel within 14-7 at halftime.
Jones drove for a pair of baskets in the third quarter as the Lady Blue Devil lead grew to 18-7.
Jones contributed two more baskets and a free throw in the final period, and teammates AnnaGrey Heustess and Maegan Burney netted baskets in the final quarter.
Pharr drained another basket and a free throw in the fourth period and topped the Tar Heel scoring with 6 points. Harrell scored another basket in the quarter and finished with 4 points.
