ELIZABETHTOWN – A. Webb threw in 2 baskets in overtime that lifted East Columbus to a 19-15 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ basketball victory over Elizabethtown Tuesday.
Webb and K. Worley shared scoring honors for East Columbus with 6 points each. A. Goodwin scored the other overtime basket for the Lady Hawks.
Tall Sana’a Singletary dropped in a basket and 2 free throws in the opening quarter, and Ellen Battle tossed in a basket as Elizabethtown built a 6-3 lead. Battle flipped in another basket in the 2nd period but East had rallied to go up 9-8.
Battle scored again in the 3rd quarter then Singletary sank a basket and a free throw in the final period to tie the game 13-13. Singletary scored the only Lady Cougar basket in the overtime period.
Elizabethtown, now 1-1, will host Clarkton School of Discovery Thursday.
