NAKINA – Nakina blew open an 18-12 game with an 11-0 closing run and defeated Clarkton School of Discovery 29-12 in Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ basketball action Tuesday night.
Walker Smith led the Mustangs with 7 points, and Tyson Strickland followed with 6 points.
ShyRon Thompson tossed in an early basket, and Omar Powell sank 2 free throws to keep the Blue Devils within 5-4 in the opening period.
Powell bombed in a 3-point shot, and Noah White tossed in a basket in the 2nd quarter, but Nakina padded their lead to 13-9. Powell pumped in a 3rd period basket, and Thompson tacked on a free throw.
Powell led the Blue Devils with 7 points, and Thompson tallied 3 points.
The Blue Devils, now 0-3, will visit Elizabethtown Thursday night.
