ELIZABETHTOWN –Hadley Dove pitched a 3-inning no-hitter and struck out 7 batters, and Bladenboro’s offense scored 28 runs in the 3rd inning to post a 38-0 Waccamaw Middle School Conference ‘AA’ Division softball victory over Elizabethtown Wednesday.
Coach Hayley Baxley’s Bulldogs improved to 2-1 in ‘AA” Division play and 6-2 overall and will host Whiteville Thursday. Elizabethtown drops to 0-4 in the ‘AA’ Division and 0-7 overall.
Singles by Maycee Kinlaw and Chloe Walters keyed a 4-run 1st inning for the Lady Bulldogs. Kinlaw, Caity McLaurin, Allison Hickman and Dove all scored.
Addison Wilcox walloped a run-scoring triple in the 2nd inning, and Walters and Kinlaw smacked singles. Kinlaw, McLaurin, Wilcox, Adyson Carroll, Dove and Kylee Davenport all scored runs as the lead grew to 10-0.
Bladenboro received 13 walks in the 3rd inning. Wilcox slugged a home run, a triple, a single and scored 3 runs in the inning. Kinlaw cracked a double, a single and scored 3 runs in the inning. McLaurin doubled, tripled and scored 4 runs.
Hickman added a double, a single and scored 3 runs. Dove doubled and scored 3 runs. Carroll singled and scored 3 runs. Walters scored 3 runs. Brooklyn McKee tripled and scored twice, and Davenport and Alyssia Singletary scored runs, and Liz Miller scored twice.
Calleigh Smith walked and Zariyah Riddy was hit by a pitch to account for the only Lady Cougar baserunners.
Kinlaw batted 5-for-6 with a double, 4 runs batted in and 5 runs scored. Wilcox finished 4-for-5 at the plate with a home run, 2 triples, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored. McLaurin batted 2-for-2 with a triple, a double, 3 RBIs and 6 runs scored. Hickman finished 2-for-3 with a double, 2 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
Walters batted 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. McKee tripled and scored 2 runs. Dove doubled, had an RBI and scored 5 runs. Carroll singled, had 2 RBIs and scored 4 runs. Davenport and Alyssia Singletary had 1 RBI each. Davenport and Miller scored 2 runs each, and Singletary scored a run.
