ELIZABETHTOWN – Gabby Bray pitched a 3-hit shutout and struck out 8 batters to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to an 11-0 Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball victory over Elizabethtown Thursday.

Tatum Allen reached base, Cabria Baldwin was hit by a pitch, and Ymani Monroe reached base on a fielder’s choice in the 1st inning and all 3 of them scored for the Lady Blue Devils.

Brenna Hester walked, and Allen knocked her in with a double in the 2nd inning. Baldwin smacked a single to drive in Allen then later scored to push the lead to 6-0.

Rebecca Johnson reached base on an error to begin the CSD 3rd inning. Bray walked and Hester reached base as Johnson scored. Baldwin then slugged a 3-run homer as the lead grew to 10-0.

Baldwin reached base on an error and scored the final Clarkton run in the 5th inning. Baldwin finished with a 2-for-3 performance that included the 3-run homer and also scored 4 runs. Allen smashed the double and scored twice. Bray singled and scored, and Hester scored twice. Monroe and Johnson also scored runs.

Laila Smith hammered a double to lead the Elizabethtown hitters. Teammates Niyah Wooten and Hailey Bennett belted singles. Mary Frances Sutton started in the circle for the Lady Cougars and was relieved by Iveonna Ward in the 2nd inning.

Coach Jordan Raynor’s Lady Blue Devils will host Tabor City Tuesday.
