NAKINA – Jenna Brice pitched a 5-hitter and struck out 11 batters to lead Emereau Bladen to a 10-3 non-conference middle school softball victory over Nakina Tuesday.

Mollie Tolar walked, and Brice reached base on a fielder’s choice before Martha Simmons hammered a double  in the 3rd inning that scored both runners for a 2-0 lead.

Aubrei Nixon and Taylor Dowless drew walks to start the Emereau 4th inning. Tolar reached base on an error that scored Nixon, and Brice drove in Dowless and Tolar with a single. Brice later scored to grow the lead to 6-0.

Dowless walked, and Tolar belted a single in the Lady Aviator 5th inning. Simmons blasted a triple that scored both runners then later darted home to boost the lead to 9-1.

Nixon reached base on an error in the 6th inning and later scored on Tolar’s single to push the lead to 10-3.

Simmons slugged a double, a triple and batted 3-for-4 with 4 runs batted in and a run scored. Tolar finished 3-for-4 at the plate with 3 runs scored and an RBI. Brice slammed a 2-run single and scored twice. Dowless and Nixon scored 2 runs each.

Emereau Bladen improved to 3-0 and will host Whiteville Central at 4:30 Wednesday at Bladen County Park.
