ELIZABETHTOWN – Sophomores Emma Turbeville and Karlie Priest ignited a 2-run East Bladen rally in the 6th inning that lifted the Lady Eagles to a 9-7 Three Rivers Conference softball victory over stubborn St. Pauls Tuesday night.

The Lady Bulldogs who entered the game with a 1-8 record fought back to tie the Lady Eagles 7-7 in the top of the sixth.

Turbeville and Priest laced singles to left-centerfield to start the East Bladen 6th, and senior Alyssa Futrell laid down a bunt single that plated Turbeville with the go-ahead run. Priest later scored on sophomore Maegan Burney’s fielder’s choice to pad the lead to 9-7.

Senior Kayleigh Raynor came on in relief to pitch a scoreless 7th inning and picked up the save by striking out 2 batters and allowing only one hit. Sophomore Laura Davisson started in the circle and worked the 1st 6 innings to earn the win allowing 7 runs -4 earned – on 8 hits while striking out six.

Priest batted a perfect 3-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 runs batted in to lead the East hitters. Raynor finished 3-4 at the plate with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored and an RBI. Futrell batted 3-4 with 3 RBIs and a run scored.

Davisson finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored. Turbeville and senior Carlie West added one hit each. Turbeville scored 2 runs, and West scored a run.

Raynor ripped a single to left to start the 1st inning and circled the bases on an error by the leftfielder. Priest and Futrell belted singles, and both of them raced home as Burney reached base on an error to stake the Lady Eagles to an early 3-0 lead.

Freshman Yomaris Vasquez walloped a solo home run for the Lady Bulldogs in the 2nd inning. Davisson led off the East 3rd inning with an infield hit but was retired on Turbeville’s fielder’s choice. After Priest walked, Futrell knocked in Turbeville with a single to centerfield that pushed the lead to 4-1.

The Lady Bulldogs bunched 4 hits in the 4th inning to tie the game 4-4. East Bladen answered with 3 runs in the home 4th. West drew a walk, and Raynor drilled a double to left-centerfield that scored West.

Davisson legged out an infield hit, and Turbeville was hit by a pitch. Priest smashed a single to left-centerfield that scored Raynor and Davisson and stretched the Lady Eagle lead to 7-4.

Senior Kayley Carter hammered a 2-run triple in the top of the 6th inning to cap a 3-run rally and tie the game 7-7. Carter batted 2-for-3 with the triple, and Vasquez slugged the home run and was also 2-for-3 at the plate. Senior Alicia Monroe and junior Madison Williams both batted 2-for-4 for the Lady Bulldogs.

Coach Chris Davisson’s Lady Eagles improved to 5-1 in league play and 6-5 overall. East Bladen will travel to East Columbus Thursday for a 6 p.m. game.
