ELIZABETHTOWN – Tar Heel rallied from an early 10-0 deficit with a pair of big innings that carried the Lady Panthers to a 26-13 Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball victory over Elizabethtown Monday at County Park.

The Lady Cougars sent 14 batters to the plate in the 1st inning to take their 10-0 lead. Zahreonna Baldwin, Alayah Powell, Nyasia Banks and Aaliyah Monroe drew consecutive walks, before Cylee was hit by a pitch, and Harmony Richardson reached on a passed 3rd strike.

Sana’a Singletary was hit by a pitch, and Gabbi, Calleigh, Baldwin, Banks, Monroe and Cylee drew walks. Baldwin and Banks scored 2 runs each in the inning, and Powell, Monroe, Cylee, Richardson, Gabbi and Calleigh scored 1 run each.

The Lady Panthers answered with 14 runs in the bottom of the 1st. Serenity Council was hit by a pitch, and Carrie Jones, Alajeh McMillian, Abigail Dew, Everlee Nance, Ashley Sandoval, Uriah Wright and Je’Leah Purdie drew walks. Sherrell McKoy reached on a passed 3rd strike.

Council singled, Jones was hit by a pitch and McMillan, Nance, Sandoval, Wright and Purdie drew walks. McKoy was hit by a pitch. Council, Jones, McMillan, Nance and Wright scored 2 runs each in the inning, and Dew, Sandoval, Purdie and McKoy scored 1 run each.

Richardson reached on a passed 3rd strike in the Elizabethtown 2nd inning, and Calleigh and Baldwin drew walks. Richardson scored to trim the Lady Panther lead to 14-11.

Jones, McMillian, Nance, Sandoval, Wright, Purdie, McKoy and Council drew walks in the Tar Heel 2nd inning, and Dew was hit by a pitch. Jones and McMillian cracked singles, before Dew, Sandoval and Wright drew walks. Jones, McMillian and Dew scored 2 runs each in the inning. Council, Nance, Sandoval, Wright, Purdie and McKoy scored 1 run each as the lead swelled to 26-11.

Cylee walked, Richardson was hit by a pitch, and Sana’a Singletary singled in the Lady Cougar 3rd inning. Cylee and Richardson scored runs to trim the final margin to 26-13.

Jones singled, walked twice, was hit by a pitch and scored 4 runs for Tar Heel. McMillian singled, walked 3 times and scored 4 runs. Council singled, was twice hit by pitches, walked and scored 3 runs. Dew walked twice, was hit by a pitch and scored 3 runs.

Nance walked 3 times and scored 3 runs. Wright walked 4 times and scored 3 runs Sandoval walked 4 times and scored twice. Purdie walked 3 times and scored 2 runs. McKoy was hit by a pitch, walked and scored 2 runs. As a team Tar Heel was the beneficiary of 23 walks and 5 hit batters.

Richardson was hit by a pitch and scored 3 runs for Elizabethtown. Baldwin walked 3 times and scored twice. Banks walked twice and scored twice. Cylee walked twice, was hit by a pitch and scored twice. Monroe walked twice and scored a run.

Calleigh walked twice and scored a run. Singletary singled and was hit by a pitch. Powell walked and scored a run, and Gabbi walked and a scored a run. Elizabethtown drew 13 walks and had 2 hit batters in the game.

Coach Lexi Dawson’s Lady Panthers completed their season with a 1-6 league record and are 1-7 overall. Elizabethtown, now 0-6 in league play and 1-7 overall, will visit East Columbus Tuesday.
