CLARKTON – Williams Township rallied for two runs in the seventh inning to edge Clarkton School of Discovery 5-4 in Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball action Thursday.

The Lady Aggies turned 2 hits, a walk and an error into the two decisive runs in the top of the seventh. Williams had sandwiched 3 hits around an error to score two runs in the first inning.

Clarkton tied the game with 2 runs in the third inning. Ashlyn Williams yanked a single to leftfield, and AnnaGrey Heustess slammed a double. Karli Priest’s fielder’s choice scored Williams, and Emma Turbeville knocked in Heustess with a single to centerfield.

The Lady Aggies edged back in front with a fifth inning home run, but the Lady Blue Devils took the lead 4-3 in the home fifth. Priest and Turbeville belted singles to start the inning, and Shy’Asia Ratliff hammered a double that scored Priest and Turbeville.

Turbeville batted 2-4 with a run batted in and a run scored. Ratliff smashed the 2-run double, and Heustess doubled and scored a run. Williams, Maegan Burney and Priest connected for one hit each. Priest and Williams scored runs, and Priest had an rbi.

Priest pitched a complete-game 8-hitter, walked 3 and struck out 5 for Clarkton.

The Lady Blue Devils, now 3-1, will host Elizabethtown Monday.
