TABOR CITY- Clarkton School of Discovery’s volleyball visited 2 gyms and posted 3 Waccamaw Middle School Conference victories in a very long Thursday evening.

Coach Elizabeth Priest’s Lady Blue Devils began the day at Tabor City and battled East Columbus through 3 long sets before losing 18-16 in the 3rd set. “We played really well just didn’t get the win,” said Priest.

Next Clarkton and host Tabor City resumed a match that was suspended at Clarkton a week earlier due to safety issues caused by a hanging light. The Lady Blue Devils battled back and pulled out a 2-1 victory in the completed match.

Clarkton then swept 2 sets in their match against Tabor City that was scheduled for Thursday. However with 2 wins in 3 matches, the Lady Blue Devils weren’t through.

“Our athletic director had called Williams and since they were on our way home from Tabor City, they agreed to play us and make up the other match that had been postponed in Clarkton,” explained Priest. The Lady Blue Devils swept both sets for a 2-0 victory.

With 3 wins in 4 matches, the Clarkton team arrived back home around 9:30 p.m. to complete an almost 7-hour evening of volleyball and travel. The Lady Blue Devils evened their record at 4-4.
