West Bladen Women’s Basketball Coach Rick Rhoda announced Saturday that he is resigning to take a teaching position at Pine Forest High in Fayetteville.

The Lady Knights finished fourth in the Four County Conference this past season with a 7-7 league record and qualified for the NCHSAA Play-offs with a 12-15 overall mark.

Coach Rhoda emphasized playing man-to-man defense during his time at West Bladen. Some of the Lady Knights biggest wins during his tenure were a triple overtime victory over Pender and a 43-39 Four County Tournament win at Midway in 2016.

In 2017 the Lady Knights posted key December wins over Whiteville and Lakewood and claimed a trio of victories over league foe Pender.

“My experience coaching at West Bladen has been an experience like no other,” said Coach Rhoda, a 1985 East Bladen grad who now lives in Fayetteville. “I hope the girls will continue to work hard in and out of season to improve their games.”
