Bladen County SportsSoutheastern Community College’s Lady Rams dropped both games of a Region X double-header by scores of 5-4 and 9-3 at Richard Bland College in Petersburg, VA Friday.

Sophomore Abbey Walters hammered a 2-run double in the Lady Rams’ 4-run fifth inning that tied the first game 4-4. Sophomores Kaitlyn Sykes and Robin Coleman also slammed doubles for SCC. Sykes batted 2-3 in the game and scored a run.

Walters, Sykes and Coleman are all West Bladen graduates and Bladenboro natives.

Walters started in the circle but was relieved by Coleman in the third inning. Coleman pitched 4 scoreless innings, allowing only 3 hits, before Richard Bland pushed across an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh.

Walters crushed a long home run for the Lady Rams in the second game. Coleman batted 1-3, and Sykes drove in a run.

The Lady Rams are now 2-2 in Region X play and 4-8 overall. SCC will travel to Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville, VA Friday for a 1 p.m. double-header.
