VIERA, FL – Bladenboro’s Ty Thurman was named the Offensive Most Valuable Player and selected for the All-Tournament Team at the USSSA Future Prospects Top 72 Showcase for 11-and-Under players at the Space Coast Complex.
Thurman’s Penguin team won the championship game 7-3 Monday. Thurman hammered a one-hopper off the right field fence to drive in the game’s first run then scored the second run on a single. He batted 2-for-3 in the championship game.
For the tournament Thurman belted 10 hits in 14 at-bats and also saw duty on the pitching mound. His father Steve served as an assistant coach for the Penguins.
