ST PAULS – A 4-run fourth-inning propelled East Bladen to the Eagles first win of the season – 5-2 over St. Pauls – Friday night in Three Rivers Conference baseball action.

Senior Sincere Smith slammed a double leading off the game and dashed home on junior Greyson Heustess’ single to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Sophmore Gabe Barber drew a walk to begin the East Bladen fourth, and junior Spencer Scott laced a single. Junior Pierce Melvin smashed a double to drive in Barber, and a throwing error on senior Quinton Bedsole’s hit plated Scott and Melvin. Smith belted a single that scored Bedsole for a 5-0 lead.

St. Pauls scored a run in the home fourth on Aaron Revels double and Caleb Henderson’s single.

Scott pitched a complete-game 4-hitter, striking out six and walking two to pick up the win. Barber and Bedsole both batted 2-3 with a run scored. Smith finished 2-4 at the plate with a double, a run batted in and a run scored.

Heustess batted 2-4 with an rbi. Melvin doubled, drove in a run and scored a run. Scott singled and scored a run.

Coach Russell Priest’s Eagles will host East Columbus Tuesday night.
