FAIRMONT – Jalen Brown’s 14 points led Fairmont to an 81-62 Three Rivers Conference boys’ basketball victory over West Bladen Monday night. The game had been postponed earlier due to quarantine restrictions.
Jahkeen Moore scored 8 of his 13 points as the Tornadoes grabbed an early 20-14 lead. Josiah Brown, Landon Stanley and ShyRon Adams buried 3-point shots for the Knights in the 1st period. Teammates Josh Lewis and Javonta Matthews threw in baskets, and Gary Parker netted a free throw.
Syncere Southern tallied 7 of his 11 points as Fairmont grew the lead to 42-32. Matthews sank 4 free throws and another basket, and Keshaun Ballard popped in a pair of Knight baskets. Donovan Stone drained a 3-point shot, Adams and Josiah Brown tossed in baskets and Adams hit a free throw.
A trio of Jalen Brown buckets keyed a 21-11 Tornado surge after halftime. Matthews answered with a pair of baskets, and Lewis cashed in 4 free throws. Ballard dropped in a basket, and Anthony Mitchell tacked on a free throw.
Lewis pumped in 2 baskets and 2 free throws in the final quarter for the Knights. Matthews knocked down 2 baskets and a foul shot. Stone nailed another 3-ball, Adams flipped in a basket, Stanley converted a pair of free throws, and Josiah Brown made one.
Matthews led all scorers with 17 points for the Knights. Lewis followed with 12 points, and Adams totaled 8 points.
The Knights will travel to East Bladen for a non-conference game Wednesday night.
