Heide Trask opened Tuesday night’s game at East Bladen with a 13-1 spurt and went on to defeat the Eagles 69-49 in Four County Conference boys basketball action.
 
The Eagles were held scoreless until senior Jermaine Robinson sank a free throw with 3:10 left in the first period. Robinson then drained back-to-back 3-point shots that sliced the Titan lead to 13-7.
 
Trask’s Jacquan London scored in transition, but East Bladen’s Eian Hines turned a Robinson assist into a lay-up that closed the gap to 15-9. Jonathan Jordan’s follow shot put the Titans up 17-9 at the quarter break.
 
A pair of Tyrease Armstrong baskets widened the gap to 23-10, but Robinson and sophmore Sincere Smith sank 2 free throws each, and junior Eian Hines banked in an 8-footer to cut the Trask lead to 25-16.
 
An Ethan Hines assist produced a Smith lay-up, and Eian Hines canned 2 free throws to keep the Eagles within 28-20. Trask responded with 5 straight points, but Robinson put back a rebound and drilled a 3-point shot to close the gap to 33-25 at halftime.
 
Ethan Hines stuck back a rebound, and brother Eian Hines banked in a 6-footer and made 2 free throws to keep the Eagles within 40-31 midway the third quarter.
 
However Trask reeled off 9 straight points, before senior Chris Cromartie muscled in a follow, and junior Denzel Johnson drilled in a 3-point shot to keep East within 51-36 at the quarter break.
 
Johnson connected on two more 3-point shots in the final quarter, and Eian Hines nailed another 3-ball. Ethan Hines drove for a pair of lay-ups in the period, but Trask pulled away behind 8 points from Tiywan Ballard.
 
Robinson topped the East Bladen scoring with 14 points – all in the first half. Eian Hines finished with 13 points and 4 rebounds. Johnson totaled 9 points on a trio of second-half 3-balls. Ethan Hines added 6 points and 4 rebounds.
 
Guard Tynaffit Davis led the Titans with 14 points, and Jordan followed with 13 points. London and Ballard finished with 12 points each.  The Titans outrebounded the Eagles 42-19.
 
The Eagles, now 2-9 in league play and 5-14 overall, will host Wallace-Rose Hill Thursday night.
