TABOR CITY — Junior Andrew Todd and freshman Khalil Morgan pumped in 15 points each Thursday night to lead South Columbus to a 54-47 victory over East Bladen in Waccamaw Conference boys’ basketball action.

Todd rang up 3 1st period baskets, and Nasir Hutchinson threw in a 3-ball as the Stallions built a 15-10 lead. Senior Lee Barnes drained a 3-pointer for East, and junior Dominick Collins and sophomores Keyshawn Kemp and Tevin McLean popped in baskets. Collins also added a free throw.

Kemp rallied the Eagles in the 2nd quarter with a 3-pointer and another basket. Barnes sank 3 free throws, Shannon Hankins netted 2 free throws, and junior Kewone Maynor made one to trim the deficit to 24-21. Morgan bombed in a pair of 3-balls to keep South ahead.

Sophomore A.J. Scott dropped in 2 baskets, and Todd and Morgan connected on 3-pointers to spark a 16-9 South 3rd quarter run that pushed the lead to 40-30. Collins drove for 2 baskets and a free throw, and Kemp and McLean delivered baskets for the Eagles.

Collins connected on 8 of 9 free throws and flipped in a basket for East in the final period. Barnes nailed another 3-point shot, Maynor hurled in a basket, and senior Peyton Tatum and Kemp cashed in free throws.

Scott and Monte Gore kept South on top with 2 baskets each in the 4th quarter. Morgan tacked on another basket and 2 free throws.

Collins topped all scorers with 18 points for East. Kemp battled inside for 10 points, and Barnes finished with 9 points. McLean tallied 4 points. Scott followed Morgan and Todd on the Stallions scoring list with 11 points.

The Eagles, now 3-3 in the Waccamaw and 8-7 overall, will travel to East Columbus Tuesday night. South Columbus, now 4-2 and 9-9, will visit Pender Tuesday night.
