TABOR CITY — Torrean Cogdell and Dashawn Campbell sparked a 4th quarter rally that propelled East Bladen to a 37-35 Waccamaw Conference jayvee boys’ basketball victory over South Columbus Thursday.

The Stallions carried a 22-21 lead into the final period, but Cogdell and Campbell tossed in 2 baskets and a free throw each to key a 16-13 Eagle surge. Teammate Braylon Cromartie sank a basket and 2 free throws in the quarter, and John Monroe netted a basket.

Cogdell topped all scorers with 15 points for the Eagles. Campbell finished with 7 points. Monroe chipped in with 5 points, and Cromartie scored 4.

Easton McPherson led the Stallions with 11 points, and Caden McCray followed with 9 points.

Cogdell, Monroe and Landyn Scott bombed in a 3-point shot each for East in the opening quarter. Teammate Braylon Johnson pumped in a basket and a free throw as the Eagles went up 12-10. Cogdell nailed another 3-point shot in the 2nd period to keep East up 15-11 at halftime.

Cogdell dropped in 2 baskets in the 3rd quarter, and Campbell threw in a basket. However a 3-ball and another basket by McPherson and a 3-ball from McCray rallied the Stallions into the lead.

The jayvee Eagles, now 4-2 in the Waccamaw and 6-6 overall, will travel to East Columbus Tuesday. South Columbus will visit Pender Tuesday.
