DJ MasonWest Bladen grad D. J. Mason tossed in 14 points Thursday night as his Campbell Camels posted an 89-85 Big South Conference basketball overtime victory over visiting Gardner-Webb.

Mason connected on 7 of 11 shots from the field, dished out 2 assists and had one rebound and one steal.

The Clarkton native popped in a jump shot to tie the game 17-17 midway the first half then canned another jumper late in the half but Gardner-Webb still led 36-34 at the half.

Mason dropped in a pair of lay-ups early in the second half, but the Camels still trailed 45-40. With 14:20 left in the game, Mason popped in a jumper to tie the game 45-45.

A Mason lay-up put the Camels ahead with 11:44 remaining to play. Another Mason lay-up with 4:34 on the clock stretched the Campbell lead to 68-64.

The Camels are now 3-11 in the Big South and 9-15 overall.
