ELIZABETHTOWN – The East Bladen duo of junior Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson and sophmore Patience Ward combined for 36 points Friday night as the Lady Eagles pounded Fairmont 60-20 in Three Rivers Conference girls basketball action.

The Lady Eagles rolled to a 26-4 first quarter lead then rode a 24-5 second period blitz to a 50-9 halftime lead. A running clock shortened the second half.

Moore-Peterson topped the East Bladen attack with 21 points, and Ward finished with 15 points, 4 assists and 3 steals. Junior Erica McKoy racked up 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

Junior Ashley Hardin tossed in 6 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 3 assists for the winners. Senior Shardajah Brown scored 5 points and pulled down 6 rebounds.

Freshman center Lexie Mendell blocked 4 shots and corralled 5 rebounds. Junior Anna Kate White tossed in 4 points.

The East Bladen defense limited Fairmont’s Kiara Page to only 5 points in the game – well below her 24 points per game average. Maya Bellamy led the Lady Tornadoes with 8 points.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles improved to 4-1 in league play and 6-1 overall. East Bladen will host St. Pauls Monday night.
