Junior Laikyn Pait posted a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds Thursday night to lead West Bladen to a 62-50 Four County Conference girls basketball victory over visiting Union.

Pait also dished out 5 assists and came up with 3 steals. Freshman Erika McKoy tossed in 12 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and had 3 steals for the winners.

Junior Alanna Ludlum finished with 9 points and 3 steals for the Lady Knights. Junior Akira Grimes followed with 6 points and 3 rebounds. Junior Logan Autry distributed 7 assists and collected 4 points and 2 steals.

Sophmore Elizabeth Allbright pulled down 6 rebounds and had 2 steals for West, and junior Jerena Purdie corralled 3 rebounds.

Faith McKoy led Union with 18 points. Destiny Robinson followed with 13 points, and Shamyia Hope added 11 points.

Pait nailed a pair of 3-point shots and tallied 8 first quarter points as the Lady Knights jumped in front 12-8. Erika McKoy also scored a basket in the period for West.

Erika McKoy took charge with 3 baskets for the Lady Knights in the second quarter. Pait scored 4 points, and Allbright sank 2 free throws as West Bladen took a 26-20 halftime lead.

Pait delivered a trio of baskets in the third period, Grimes scored 2 baskets and Erika McKoy hit 2 free throws to keep West ahead 38-34 at the quarter break.

Ludlum and Pait bombed in 3-point shots in the fourth quarter as the Lady Knights poured in 24 points. Ludlum and Pait also scored 2 more baskets each in the period.

Autry netted 2 baskets in the final quarter, and junior Kassidy Anderson, Erika McKoy and Grimes added one bucket each.

Coach Rick Rhoda’s Lady Knights improved to 4-3 in league play and 6-10 overall. West Bladen will host Wallace-Rose Hill Tuesday night.
