ELIZABETHTOWN – Sophomore Mya McDonald and senior Sydney Wober recorded ‘Hat Tricks’ of 3 or more goals as East Bladen rolled to a 9-0 girls soccer victory over St. Pauls in their Three Rivers Conference opener Wednesday night.

McDonald fired in a ‘Hat Trick’ plus one of 4 goals, and Wober poured in 3 goals for her ‘Hat Trick’.

“Our press and our attack looked good,” said Lady Eagle Coach Jay Raynor. “We were able to keep the game on their half of the field about the entire game.” Junior Lily Lin recorded the shutout in goal as the Lady Bulldogs were unable to attempt a shot on goal.

McDonald turned a feed from Wober into the game’s 1st goal in the 4th minute. Moments later passes from junior Katie Evans and Wober led to McDonald’s 2nd goal. Wober blasted in a free kick from 30 yards out to push the East Bladen lead to 3-0.

Junior Kenia Medina converted passes from McDonald and Evans into the game’s 4th goal in the 21st minute. Six minutes later Wober knocked in her 2nd goal to push the Lady Eagle halftime lead to 5-0.

Three minutes into the second half, McDonald rang up her 3rd goal of the game off of an assist from sophomore Heather Hardin. Five minutes later Wober finished off her ‘Hat Trick’ off of a feed from Evans that widened the gap to 7-0.

McDonald scored her 4th goal off of an assist from senior Cybil Campbell as the lead grew to 8-0. Senior Bailey Davis ended the game on the mercy rule by firing in a goal in the 59th minute.

“We were able to get everyone quality minutes, and I thought everyone played well,” said Raynor. “The girls made plays and played for each other. A lot of depth skill wise, but they need experience. We were able to do that tonight.”

“Our backs played well tonight,” noted Raynor. “They weren’t tested much but handled the situations they were put in. Our chemistry in the midfield and with our forwards looked good tonight. They knocked the ball and made some great play as well as completed some nice passing sequences.”

The Lady Eagles, now 1-1, will host South Columbus Monday at 6 p.m.
