TEACHEY – Lee Barnes and Natoren Corbett combined to pitch a 1-hit shutout and strike-out 8 batters as East Bladen rolled to a 13-0 non-conference jayvee baseball victory over Wallace-Rose Hill Tuesday.

Barnes worked the 1st 3 innings on the hill for the Eagles and allowed a single and a walk while striking out 5 batters. Corbett struck out all 3 batters that he faced in a 1-2-3 fourth inning.

Caleb Scruggins led off the game with a single for the Eagles, and Darius Williamson reached base on an error. Corbett, Barnes and Masion Brooks drew walks, and Scruggins, Williamson and Corbett scored runs as the Eagles took a 3-0 lead.

J’marius Smith walked to begin the East 2nd inning. Williamson reached base, Parker Greene walked, and Kalec Autry cracked a single. Barnes and Brooks reached base, and Cole Butler belted a single. Smith, Williamson, Greene, Autry, Barnes and Brooks all scored runs as the Eagle lead grew to 9-0.

Malikah Moore was hit by a pitch to begin the East Bladen 4th inning. Corbett walked, and Carson Gooden’s grounder forced Moore at 3rd base. Andrew Musselwhite and Scruggins smashed singles as Corbett and Gooden both scored.

Bray Heustess reached base on an error in the Eagle 5th inning, and Moore and Gooden swatted singles. Heustess and Moore scored runs as the East lead grew to 13-0.

Scruggins batted 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead the East Bladen hitters. Autry, Moore, Gooden, Butler and Musselwhite connected for 1 hit each. Williamson and Corbett scored 2 runs each. Greene, Heustess, Autry, Moore, Barnes, Gooden, Brooks and Smith scored 1 run each.

Coach Kenzil McCall’s Eagles improved to 2-0 on the season and will host West Bladen Tuesday at 4 p.m.
