DUBLIN – Heide Trask used their full-court pressure defense to rally from 17 points down to defeat West Bladen 47-44 in Four County Conference jayvee boys basketball action.

The Knights roared out of the gate in the first period racing to leads of 12-2 and 17-4. Freshman Tyre Boykin drove for 2 baskets and 2 free throws, and center Jason Moore worked the boards for 2 baskets and a free throw.

Teammate Trenton Lyons drilled a 3-point shot, and Kerron Washington and Jaheim Lesane added a basket each in the first quarter.

Boykin threw in 2 baskets and a free throw in the second period, and teammate Ronald Thompson dropped in 2 baskets as the Knight lead grew to 32-17 at halftime. Lesane and Najee McKoy tacked on a basket each, and Eddie Perez hit a free throw.

Boykin drained a 3-point shot right after halftime that stretched the West Bladen lead to 35-19 then tallied a basket and a free throw. McKoy made another basket, but the Titans trimmed the margin to 40-32 at the quarter break.

The Titans closed the game with a 15-4 run. Boykin tossed in a basket and 2 free throws for the Knight points. West Bladen had 3 possessions in the final 30 seconds to tie the game but couldn’t connect on a tying shot.

Boykin topped the Knight scoring with 21 points. Moore finished with 5 points, and Lesane, McKoy and Thompson followed with 4 points each.

West Bladen, now 4-6 in league play, will travel to Clinton next Friday night after the exam break.
