ELIZABETHTOWN – Freshman Lexie Corrothers fired in 17 points to lead West Bladen to a 52-21 Four County Conference girls basketball victory over East Bladen Tuesday night.

Sophmore Carley Dawson pumped in 11 points for the Lady Knights, and teammate Chasitty Lacy added 10. Freshman Kasee Singletary finished with 8 points for West.

Corrothers, Lacy and Dawson tossed in one basket each in the opening period, and Singletary sank 2 free throws as the Lady Knights grabbed an early 8-2 lead. Jayme LeeAnn Frady scored the East Bladen basket in the quarter.

Dawson threw in 2 baskets and a free throw to lead a 15-4 Lady Knight surge that stretched the lead to 23-6 at halftime. Corrothers and Lacy popped in 2 baskets each in the period. Miasha Smith netted a basket and a free throw for East in the quarter.

An 18-7 third quarter spurt widened the lead to 41-13 as Corrothers, Lacy and Singletary delivered 2 baskets each in the quarter. Miasha Smith connected for a pair of Lady Eagle baskets in the period, and teammate Shanell McMillian bombed in a 3-point shot.

Corrothers rang up 3 more baskets and a free throw in the final period for the Lady Knights.

Miasha Smith topped the East Bladen scoring with 7 points, and McMillian followed with 5 points.

Coach Joe Lewis’ Lady Knights remained unbeaten at 2-0 in league play and 8-0 overall. West Bladen will host Wallace-Rose Hill Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The Lady Eagles are idle until January 20 when they travel to Midway.
