BLADENBORO – Hunter Hester pitched a 4-inning no-hitter and struck out 9 batters to lead Bladenboro to a 16-0 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory Monday over Tabor City.

Hester issued 2 walks to account for the only Red Devil baserunners. Tabor City pitching issued 14 walks, hit 4 batters and gave up 5 hits.

The Bulldogs scored 2 runs in the 1st inning, grew the margin to 5-0 in the 2nd, and widened the gap to 8-0 in the 3rd inning. An 8-run Bladenboro 4th inning ended the game on the mercy rule.

Jonah Bryan batted 2-3 and scored 2 runs to lead the Bulldog hitters. Hester singled and walked and scored 3 runs. Ashton Davis walked twice, scored 2 runs and hammered a 2-run inside-the-park home run down the left field line that scored the final 2 runs of the game.

Gavin Elks beat out a bunt single for the other Bulldog hit and scored a run. Teammate Chase Bryan drew 3 walks and scored 2 runs. Luke Bryant walked twice and scored twice. Andrew Wren was hit by pitches twice and scored 2 runs.

John McDowell walked and scored a run. Catcher Weston Hilburn drew 3 walks, and his courtesy runner, Sincere McKinley, scored a run.

Coach Tim Benton’s Bulldogs, now 1-0, will host Williams Township Wednesday.
