WHITEVILLE – A wild pitch allowed the winning run to score in the bottom of the 6th inning Monday as Williams Township walked off with a 7-6 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery.

The Aggies had loaded the bases after 2 were out on an error and 2 walks, before the deciding run scored. Blue Devil pitcher Claxton Tatum struck out 10 batters, but the Aggies scored 7 runs on 8 walks, 2 hits and 4 errors.

Williams took an early 1-0 lead, but Clarkton rallied with 2 runs in the 2nd inning. Dashon Campbell and Cayden Moore reached base on errors, and Keyshawn Kemp knocked them in with a single.

The Blue Devils stretched their lead to 5-1 in the 3rd inning. Aiden Trinidad led off with a single, and Hunter Wood and Tatum drew walks. Campbell’s fielder’s choice retired Tatum, but Trinidad, Wood and Campbell all scored in the inning.

Kemp slammed a double and scored the final Blue Devil run on an error in the 4th inning as the Clarkton lead grew to 6-2. Williams used 2 errors, 2 walks and a hit to score 4 runs in the home half of the 4th and knot the score 6-6.

Kemp batted 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored to lead the Blue Devils at the plate. Trinidad singled and scored. Campbell scored 2 runs, and Moore and Wood tallied 1 run each.

Clarkton will travel to Tabor City Monday.
