TABOR CITY – Cole Brisson pitched a 4-hit shutout and struck out 9 batters to lead Bladenboro to a 17-0 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory over Tabor City Monday. Brisson walked 3 and hit a batter.

Gaston Russ ripped a lead-off double to start the game and scored on a passed ball. Luke Bryant was hit by a pitch and later scored for a 2-0 Bulldog lead.

Andrew Wren spanked a single to right, and Gauge King smacked a single to ignite a 7-run Bladenboro 2nd inning. Brooks Carroll walked, and Russ laced a 2-run single to center field that plated Wren and Gauge King.

Corben Chadwick and Bryant drew walks with Bryant’s walk forcing home Carroll. Devan Stanley reached base on an error, and Brisson reached on a passed 3rd strike. Wren and Gauge King delivered their 2nd hits of the inning as Russ, Chadwick and Stanley all scored.

Carroll pounded a double to center field to start the Bulldog 3rd inning. Sawyer King and Chadwick reached base on errors that scored Carroll for a 10-0 lead.

Brisson was hit by pitch to begin the Bladenboro 4th inning. Wren walloped a double down the left field line that scored Brisson. Gauge King smashed a single to center that plated Wren. Russ knocked in Gauge King with a single that grew the lead to 13-0.

Bryant and Stanley drew walks to start the Bulldog 5th inning. Brisson reached base on an error that scored Bryant, and Wren slapped a single to right that plated Stanley. Gauge King reached on an error that scored Brisson, Carroll walked, and Sawyer King’s fielder’s choice scored Wren.

Wren batted 4-for-4 with a double, 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored to lead the Bulldog hitters. Gauge King finished 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Russ turned in a 3-for-5 performance with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Carroll doubled and scored twice. Brisson scored 3 runs. Stanley and Bryant scored 2 runs each, and Chadwick scored a run.
