BLADENBORO — Bladenboro exploded for 21 points in the 4th quarter and rallied for a 48-35 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ basketball victory over West Columbus Tuesday night.

Gaston Russ and Brooks Carroll keyed the Bulldog rally combining for 16 points in the period. Russ blistered the nets with a trio of 3-point baskets and added a free throw. Carroll tossed in a trio of baskets in the period. Sincere McKinley and Cole Brisson popped in baskets for the winners, and Isaiah Minus netted a free throw.

McKinley poured in 18 points in the 1st 3 quarters and led the Bulldogs with 20 points. Gaston Russ followed with 10 points, Carroll finished with 8 points, Minus tallied 5 points, and Brisson scored 4 points.

Coach Joe Gore’s Bulldogs improved to 5-3 and will host Elizabethtown Thursday night. West Columbus, now 4-4, will visit Nakina Thursday night.

The Bulldogs grabbed the early lead as McKinley fired in 2 baskets and a free throw. Brisson pumped in a basket, and Jace Lesane canned a free throw. McKinley dropped in 2 more baskets in the 2nd quarter, and Carroll cashed in 2 free throws, but the Warriors edged ahead 16-14.

McKinley filled up the rims with 4 baskets and a free throw in the 3rd period, and Minus threw in a pair of baskets to keep the Bulldogs within 29-27.

Deontray Bellamy topped the West Columbus scoring with 13 points, and Taylor Flores chipped in with 7 points. Charlie McLeod added 6.
