LAKE WACCAMAW – Cristian Rodriguez pounded in 2 goals Monday to lead unbeaten Tar Heel to a 5-0 Waccamaw Middle School Conference AA Division boys’ soccer victory over East Columbus.
Amine Mahdi knocked in the 1st Panther goal off of an assist from Levi Garcia. Rodriguez then converted a crossing pass from Alejandro Lopez into a Tar Heel goal for a 2-0 lead. The Lopez to Rodriguez connection worked again for a Panther goal and a 3-0 halftime lead.
Garcia started the 2nd half with a goal off of an assist from Rodriguez. Lopez raced to the net for an unassisted goal that closed out the Tar Heel scoring.
Wilvert Funez recorded the shutout in goal for the Panthers who raised their record to 6-0 in AA Division play and 7-0 overall. Coach Brett Jackson’s Panthers will travel to Whiteville Central Wednesday for a makeup game.
