CSD Stats: Jackson Bostic
Javonte McDowell piled up 233 yards of total offense and scored 5 touchdowns Thursday night to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 40-24 Bladen Five Middle School Conference victory at Tar Heel.
McDowell caught a trio of touchdown passes and finished with 202 yards receiving and rushed for 31 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Lawson Hester threw a 71-yard touchdown pass to McDowell in the third quarter and fired a 66-yard touchdown pass to McDowell in the final period. Hester was 2-2 passing for 137 yards and also racked up 113 yards receiving and 26 yards rushing.
McDowell also snagged a 65-yard touchdown pass from Jake Garrison in the second quarter. Garrison completed 3 of 4 passes for 199 yards.
Teammate Garrett Melvin completed his only pass attempt for 29 yards as the Blue Devils finished with 365 passing yards and 441 total yards.
McDowell also scored on a 26-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and a 13-yard TD run in the final period.
Teyshaun Berkeley ran 4 yards for the first Clarkton touchdown and finished with 19 yards rushing. Berkeley also ran for a 2-point conversion in the fourth period.
Quarterback Tyree Boykin led the Panther offense with a pair of touchdown runs. Boykin also scored a trio of 2-point conversions for Tar Heel.
Halfback Shemiah Leake carried into the end zone for the other Panther touchdown.
Clarkton, now 1-2, will travel to Bladenboro next Thursday, while Tar Heel will host Elizabethtown.
